About the Area
If you want privacy in La Jolla, this is the neighborhood for you! The lots in La Jolla Farms are some of the largest in the La Jolla zip code. The location is ideal being close to the freeways and the UCSD campus, with quick access to Genesee and Torrey Pines Road, it is easy to get in and out of “The Farms”. Some of the largest homes in La Jolla are situated in La Jolla Farms because of the generous lot sizes, so the neighborhood has plenty of large La Jolla estates. The lots allow for privacy and exclusiveness that the other La Jolla neighborhoods do not offer which makes it easy to create the large luxury compounds and private entryways. Some of the lots are so large that they allow room for guest casitas, tennis courts, sprawling lawns, and endless massive homes!
Another neighborhood to mention is Blackhorse Farms. This neighborhood is built on leased land from UCSD and has “newer” homes for La Jolla and is a one of the few
gated La Jolla neighborhoods. The prices of the homes reflect that they are located on leased land and with townhomes and some detached homes are perfect for people wanting to live in a newer home, but do not want to pay the higher prices closer into town to do so.
If you are lucky enough to be able to own a home in this area, you have certainly arrived and are fortunate enough to be situated next to a world-class golf course, Torrey Pines, Torrey Pines Lodge, Estancia La Jolla Resort and Spa, the Birch Aquarium, and Scripps Pier. With so much around you, you will feel as though you’re on vacation all the time with a public access to Blacks Beach from the neighborhood as well as The Torrey Pines Gliderport, you can hike down to the beach and bring your binoculars to check out the gliders and have a picnic on the beach. Or you can try your hand at gliding over the ocean and checking out the spectacular views of the ocean and La Jolla.
