Welcome to Mission Hills

Home is where the heart is

Mission Hills is an upscale affluent neighborhood of San Diego. It is located on hills just south of the San Diego River Valley and north of downtown San Diego, overlooking Old Town, Downtown and San Diego Bay. It was subdivided on January 20, 1908, as a smaller portion of what is now referred to as Mission Hills. It is home to some 30,000 residents. The area is primarily residential, with some boutique shops and restaurants. Pioneer Park and Mission Hills Park serve as two recreational parks within the neighborhood.

Fun facts

Mission Hills became one of the many San Diego neighborhoods connected by the Class 1 streetcars and an extensive San Diego public transit system that was spurred by the Panama-California Exposition of 1915 and built by John D. Spreckels. These streetcars became a fixture of this neighborhood until their retirement in 1939. Mission Hills contains two historic districts recognized by the City of San Diego: Mission Hills Historic District and Fort Stockton Line Historic District

Unique attributes

Mission Hills is characterized as a diverse neighborhood with an enviable central San Diego location. Adding to its overall appeal is the fact that it also claims one of the city’s finest historic districts. Many long-established neighborhoods feature beautiful older homes that are nestled on manicured properties and set against the backdrop of lush canyons and foliage. Panoramic views in the distance can feature Mexico to La Jolla. Curving streets, broad avenues lined with palms, unique architecture, and Presidio Park are a few of the landmarks that distinguish Mission Hill.
